Miguel Vieyra has worked in conservation education for 17 years, serving institutions including the Social Development Ministry of the Mexico City government, Fundación Hombre-Naturaleza, Ecology Institute UNAM, and Zoológico de San Juan de Aragón. During this time, he developed, applied and evaluated conservation education programs. In his most recent position as Education Department Coordinator at the San Juan de Aragón zoo in Mexico City, he developed evaluation studies of program animal exhibitions, special events, disability programs and school programs, among other projects.

Miguel has been member of the International Zoo Educators Association (IZEA) since 2006, serving as IZEA Regional Representative for Latin America from 2014 to 2016. He is deeply involved in ‘People with disabilities´ inclusion programs. His life goal is to develop advanced scientific studies that promote youth leadership, diversity and social inclusion for a sustainable and respectful relationship between people and wildlife. Vieyra has a major in Biology from the Sciences Faculty of the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and recently started a Master’s Program in Biology Teaching at the Faculty of Higher Studies Iztacala, UNAM.
